Guided Walks – Safety Procedures

Walkers on a guided walk passing over Crickley Hill Crickley (c) Jane Hodgson 2022

Welcome to our Cotswold Voluntary Wardens guided walks!

The following information is for walkers and risk assessment applies to all our walks. Please read it and agree to stick to these rules. It is important that everyone takes responsibility for their behaviour on the walk, and considers the safety of the group at all times.

    • Please do not attend the walk if you are feeling unwell.
    • Bring your own drinks and food. Do bring enough water if it’s a long walk and if it’s a hot day, do bring extra water. If it’s a long walk, enough snacks to keep you going over the miles.
    • If you have any health issues (eg recovering from illness or surgery)  tell the walk leader before the start of the walk and they can advise on the suitability of the walk, the steepness of the hills and so on.  If you have allergies then please also tell the walk leaders at the start of the walk.
    • On the walk, remember you are responsible for your action, so be careful when crossing roads or walking along the side of a busy road. The walk leaders will flag up any safety issues, such as busy roads, slippery paths and so on, but it is your responsibility to be aware of the terrain.
    • Please remember that dogs (excluding Assistance dogs) are not allowed on these walks.
    • Finally, as Covid rates are rising again, please check that you are feeling well and have not been in contact with anyone with Covid-19 (or suspected Covid-19 symptoms) .  Do not attend the walk if you are feeling unwell, are self- isolating, have symptoms or live in a household with someone with symptoms.

We hope you enjoy your walk with us.
