A linear walk into Bath. We follow the Titfield thunderbolt/Somerset Coal canal down to Tucking Mill then through Combe Down tunnel (1 mile), over Beechen Cliff and Alexandra Park to pick up the P&R bus back to the start. Bring bus pass if applicable. Please bring a picnic lunch.
The tunnel is lit. It is used by Cyclists as well as Pedestrians so care is needed. A torch could be useful in a culvert under the first railway. Not suitable for pushchairs. Wonderful views over Bath, weather permitting. Warden leaders will take all reasonable care and precautions but each walker is ultimately responsible for their own safety and for determining their capability to complete the chosen walk.
This walk is organised by Cotswold Voluntary Wardens, the voluntary arm of the Cotswolds Conservation Board. These walks offer an interesting and often entertaining way of exploring our wonderful Cotswold countryside and landscape. All walks by the Voluntary Wardens are FREE OF CHARGE however donations are welcome and help us to take care of the countryside.
PLEASE: always remember to wear appropriate footwear because some walks may be steep and muddy in places. Dogs are not allowed on walks, except guide dogs and hearing dogs. It is advisable to check the website or call the Cotswolds Conservation Board (01451 862000) beforehand for details of any changes, particularly during bad weather.
