A comfortable walk to Tarlton brings us to the Monarch's Way with some Roman interest, before reaching Rodmarton. We return via an ancient trackway to the Bathurst Estate's Hailey Wood, with reference to the Sapperton Canal Tunnel. Lunch available at the inn after the walk, if required.
We pass a Roman site, before passing Tarlton church. A view to Kemble airfield precedes historic Rodmarton church. We continue via Hailey Wood to the Sapperton Canal Tunnel Portal and start.
This walk is organised by Cotswold Voluntary Wardens, the voluntary arm of the Cotswolds Conservation Board. These walks offer an interesting and often entertaining way of exploring our wonderful Cotswold countryside and landscape. All walks by the Voluntary Wardens are FREE OF CHARGE however donations are welcome and help us to take care of the countryside.
PLEASE: always remember to wear appropriate footwear because some walks may be steep and muddy in places. Dogs are not allowed on walks, except guide dogs and hearing dogs. It is advisable to check the website or call the Cotswolds Conservation Board (01451 862000) beforehand for details of any changes, particularly during bad weather.
