Discover nature in the Cotswolds in 2010

The Cotswolds AONB is a nationally important area for many natural habitats including rare limestone grasslands, rich in wild flowers, as well as ancient beech woodlands which cloak the tops of the scarp face and valleys.  Abundant in wildlife, these habitats are home to a variety of plants and animals, including many rare species such as Cotswold Pennycress and the Duke of Burgundy butterfly.

2010 has been designated International Year of Biodiversity by the United Nations.  To celebrate the unique biodiversity of the Cotswolds, three special events are taking place this year:

        Cotswolds Bluebell Weekend: 24-25 April
        Cotswolds Wildflower Week: 12-20 June
        Cotswolds River Week: 4-12 September

These events, organised  by local Wildlife Trusts, National Trust and the Cotswolds Conservation Board include a variety of walks, talks and family days out throughout the area to help you discover more about the fascinating nature of the Cotswolds countryside.

Details of these events and others happening this year are listed below, however keep checking back to this page as lots more will be added over the coming weeks.
