Drystone Walling Competition
The board holds an annual drystone walling competition in partnership with the Cotswolds branch of the Dry Stone Walling Association of Great Britain. Winners in each class receive prize money and a trophy and 2nd and 3rd places receive prize money. The competition is free to enter and has the following classes:
- Professional
- Amateur
- Novice
- Beginners Pairs
The last competition took place on Sunday 4th October 2009 at Slade Farm, near Bourton-on-the-Hill.
Competitors had the chance to enter one of four classes: class one - professional, class two - amateur, class three - novice and class four - beginner pairs.
The winners were: Professional: Alistair Bidmead from Minchinhampton; Amateur: Andy Deller from Chipping Norton; Novice: Phillip Sexton from Warwickshire; Beginner Pairs: Robin Dale & Shirley Williams from Bourton-on-the-Hill.
The winner of the professional class was Andrew Mason from Cumbria, the Amateur title was taken by Andy Deller from Oxfordshire, Phillip Sexton from Warwickshire was the winner of the Novice class and Pete Egan and Conall Davies from Warwickshire won the Beginner Pairs title.
