The Cotswolds has a long standing history with the wool trade with many of the buildings that can been seen around the AONB's landscape today being a result of the income that derived from the wool industry. It is because of this connection that the Cotswolds Rural Skills programme has wanted for some time to add the skill of wool weaving to our spectrum of courses. We were therefore delighted to be approached by Rebecca Connolly, a recent graduate in Textile Design from Bath Spa University and self-confessed wool enthusiast, to begin running courses at the Cotswolds Discovery Centre at the Old Prison, Northleach.

The first course on Wednesday 14th October was a great success with trainees coming from far and wide to learn how to use a variety of different looms and weaving techniques.

If you're interested in wool weaving or know somebody that might be then the next course is taking place on Saturday 28th November at the Old Prison, Northleach. The course costs just £59 and participants are welcome to take away anything that they produce on the day.
